ROCHESTER, NY -- March 17, 1999 -- Performance Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PTIX) today announced that ikon Gmbh, a custom provider of communications, systems integration and consulting services for the German marketplace, has added ikon’s Primary Rate EuroISDN software support to PTI’s T1/E1 Wide Area Network intelligent communications controllers. Offering EuroISDN, QSIG and DPNSS-1 functionality significantly enhances PTI’s reputation as a world class provider of "Total WAN Solutions" for high performance telecommunications and datacommmunications applications.

Based on Motorola’s PowerQUICC^® Communications Processor, PTI’s T1/E1 intelligent controllers for CompactPCI^® (CPC37xPQ), PCI (PCI37xPQ) and PMC (PMC37xPQ) architectures are ideal as a Primary Rate ISDN Solution. The PTI T1/E1 controllers are currently used for Frame Relay, SS7 or any channelized protocol connection to telco switches, wireless nodes, AIN nodes or remote access multiplexers. Each adapter is supported by up to 16 MBytes of onboard memory, a DMA capable high performance host bus interface, and onboard DSU/CSUs for direct connection to each T1/E1 span for full, fractional and channelized operation.

PTI's integrated protocol software includes support for Frame Relay, X.25, HDLC, LAPD and Synchronous Bit Stream. With PTI's WAN software architecture, customers can execute single or multiple protocols on any of the PTI WAN communications controllers, while a well defined common Application Programmers Interface (API) provides an efficient environment for the development of WAN applications.
